PLEX and X-PLUS are set to release the latest addition to their popular "DEFOREAL" series, which blends intricate, realistic details with adorable deformed proportions. The new item, the "EVANGELION Unit-01 "G" Awakening Form Metallic Color Ver.", stems from the "Godzilla vs. Evangelion" collaboration project and is slated for an August 2026 release. This figure will be a limited-edition exclusive, available only through Shonen RIC, Premium Bandai, Godzilla Store, and Evangelion Store.
The dream collaboration project "Godzilla vs. Evangelion" officially kicked off in 2016, sparked by Hideaki Anno's directorial work on "Shin Godzilla". Since then, it has spawned numerous popular products featuring both Godzilla and EVA. Notably, the pachinko machine "P Godzilla vs. Evangelion ~G-Cell Awakening~" introduced an entirely new storyline that merged both universes, depicting Unit-01's mutated form after being hit by Godzilla's atomic breath and subsequently infected by G-Cells. This unique concept was later brought to life as a highly sought-after figure by PLEX, generating considerable buzz among collectors.
The "DEFOREAL EVANGELION Unit-01 "G" Awakening Form Metallic Color Ver." is an updated rendition of the previously released standard version. Standing approximately 17 cm tall, this figure captures the EVA Unit-01's G-Cell infection with highly organic and detailed sculpting in a deformed, low-head-to-body ratio. It meticulously portrays the crushed and damaged EVA restraints and the significantly Godzilla-fied, asymmetrical interior, offering distinct appearances from the left, right, and rear. This new version further enhances the EVA restraints' purple and green colors with metallic paints, boosting their luster and sense of heft.
