Good Smile Company, the Japanese toy manufacturer renowned for its popular Nendoroid series, is set to release an adorable Nendoroid figure of Esquie, the charming mascot-like character from the highly anticipated 2025 French RPG, "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33." This delightful collectible is slated for a November 2026 release, with a suggested retail price of 7,800 JPY.
Hailed as a potential dark horse in the 2025 gaming market, "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive, is poised to reintroduce players to the captivating allure of turn-based RPG combat. The game masterfully blends a Belle Époque-inspired art style with a beautiful soundtrack, while its combat system incorporates Quick Time Events (QTEs) and breaking mechanics. The narrative unfolds on Lumina Island, where the inhabitants are under the control of "The Paintress." Anyone whose age surpasses the number painted on the "Monolith" faces "erasure." To combat this, various expedition teams are formed to confront The Paintress, and the story begins as the protagonists join the 33rd Expedition.
In the game, Esquie serves as a loyal companion to the protagonists, possessing mystical abilities that allow him to transport the party across diverse landscapes. Upon acquiring special items, he can even delve into uncharted territories, making him an incredibly useful and versatile ally. The Nendoroid figure faithfully recreates Esquie's in-game appearance, featuring an enlarged head for an even cuter, more stylized look. His articulated hands allow for dynamic poses, including his iconic flying stance from the game. Additional accessories include a headpiece emblazoned with "33" and the "François Doll," a notable item from the game's story.
