Hong Kong-based toy manufacturer Ember Toys has announced the latest addition to its "Chibi Creature" Q-style sofubi series: "Getter Robo 1 (New York Final Battle)" from the OVA "Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo," slated for release in September 2026.
This release draws its theme from a classic yet tragic scene at the beginning of "Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo." In this pivotal moment, Getter Team member Musashi Tomoe pilots the original "Getter Robo" alone in New York, battling the Dinosaur Empire. Despite Musashi's ability to skillfully switch between the three Getter forms, the unit sustains continuous damage, gradually being overwhelmed by hordes of mechanical dinosaurs. When finally switching to "Getter 1," completely restrained and immobilized, Musashi makes the ultimate sacrifice, detonating the Getter Core. The immense Getter Ray energy instantly obliterates him, a significant portion of the Dinosaur Empire forces, and much of New York, buying humanity a brief period of peace.
The "Chibi Creature Getter Robo 1 (New York Final Battle)" stands approximately 17 cm tall, rendered in a super-deformed (SD) style. Its sculpt is meticulously based on the severely damaged appearance from the anime's intense siege, faithfully recreating the exposed mechanical sections of its damaged head, the large puncture wound in its abdomen, and various scratches and scrapes across its body. It even clutches the "mechanical dinosaur head" part that impales the unit. The figure also features realistic weathering paint applications, depicting scorch marks, rust, and oil stains, conveying Getter Robo's brutal and tragic state after the fierce battle. Furthermore, the exposed Getter Core in its abdomen boasts UV paint, allowing it to glow under a blacklight, simulating the surging Getter Ray energy.
