'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis' Reimagines Original Game With Unreal Engine 5, Sets 2027 PS5 Release Date

During PlayStation's State of Play presentation, Crystal Dynamics unveiled a new trailer for "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis," confirming the game will launch on PS5 on February 12, 2027.

Co-developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, the game is built on [[OBJ_5399]]Unreal Engine 5 and serves as a complete reimagining of the original 1996 "[[OBJ_8380]]Tomb Raider." From the Lost Valley of Peru to the crumbling ruins of Greece, the title will present the start of Lara Croft's legendary adventure with all-new visuals, immersive audio, and modernized gameplay.

The developers explained that this is more than a simple visual remake, featuring a significant expansion of the original level structure. For instance, while the original Lost Valley of Peru was a more room-to-room progression, the new game will feature a semi-connected environment, allowing players to explore, solve puzzles, and find hidden resources from various angles. Classic elements like the gear puzzles will also be redesigned and integrated more naturally into the scenery.

"Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" is now available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store. The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99 and includes the full game along with the "Survivor Outfit" pre-order bonus. The $69.99 Deluxe Edition adds 48-hour early access, the "Parisian Fugitive Outfit," and a post-launch DLC story pack. More details about the game are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
