Despite sharing the same "Earth-1048" Marvel gaming universe as the Marvel's Spider-Man series, Insomniac Games' PS5 exclusive Marvel's Wolverine will not feature a cameo from the web-slinger, so fans shouldn't get their hopes up.
In a recent interview with IGN, the development team explicitly confirmed that the story will focus entirely on Logan, with no plans for a Spider-Man crossover appearance.

Creative Director Marcus Smith stated that Marvel's Wolverine does indeed take place in Insomniac's Earth-1048 universe, the same setting as the Marvel's Spider-Man games. However, he was quick to clarify, "They exist in the same world, but we're not doing any crossovers. Spider-Man is not in Wolverine."
While a team-up between Wolverine and Spider-Man is off the table, the game will still feature several key characters connected to the X-Men. The latest gameplay showcase revealed Logan fighting alongside Jean Grey, with the pair utilizing cooperative takedowns against enemies. In a more surprising twist, Insomniac also revealed that Wolverine will be fighting on the same side as his arch-nemesis, Sabretooth.

Game Director Mike Daly explained that this doesn't mean Logan and Sabretooth will cooperate like a traditional heroic duo, but are instead briefly aligned against a common enemy.
"Logan and Sabretooth are actually on the same team, but the way they're allied is completely different from how you cooperate with Jean Grey," Daly said.
Daly further described that while Jean Grey might set up takedown opportunities for the player, the dynamic with Sabretooth is more competitive. He explained, "When Sabretooth is fighting alongside you, it's more like you think you're about to finish a kill, and he suddenly rushes in and steals it." This in-combat kill-stealing and banter will serve to highlight their long-standing adversarial relationship.
Additionally, the development team confirmed that, unlike the Marvel's Spider-Man series, players will not be able to control other characters in Marvel's Wolverine.
Marvel's Wolverine is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026, for the PS5.
