Four years ago, Paramount and Temple Hill Entertainment tapped Lindsey Anderson Beer, director of the "Pet Sematary" prequel "Pet Sematary: Bloodlines," to helm a new film adaptation of "Sleepy Hollow," bringing Washington Irving's renowned short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" back to the big screen. However, the project has seen some significant changes since then.

Deadline exclusively reported today that Beer will remain attached as writer and director, but she is now adapting her original script into a novel titled "Hollow," which will mark her debut as an author. Additionally, Sydney Sweeney has been revealed as the lead star. Paramount and Temple Hill Entertainment appear to no longer be involved in the production, as the film adaptation of "Hollow" is now open for a competitive bidding war among other studios, drawing considerable interest.
Sources indicate that "Hollow" will shift its primary narrative perspective from the male protagonist, Ichabod Crane, to the female lead, Katrina Van Tassel, a role Sweeney is set to portray. Furthermore, "Hollow" is expected to amplify elements of psychological suspense and erotic thriller from a fresh, contemporary viewpoint.
