Deadline exclusively reported today that Liam Hemsworth and Arnold Schwarzenegger are set to co-star in "The Kellys," an upcoming action film from Amazon MGM Studios. The duo previously fought alongside each other in "The Expendables 2," marking this their second collaboration. However, unlike their previous roles as allies to Sylvester Stallone, they will portray a father-son duo this time.
According to Deadline, the film centers on Jack Kelly, a New York detective with a less-than-stellar reputation. His wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists and held in an abandoned armory. To rescue Molly, Jack must reluctantly team up with the people he fears most: his own family. Based on this official synopsis, Hemsworth is expected to play Jack, with Schwarzenegger portraying Jack's father. Their on-screen relationship is likely to start strained, gradually mending during the high-stakes rescue mission.
Brad Peyton, director of "San Andreas," is helming the project, with Tze Chun, co-writer for the DC series "Gotham," penning the script. Production is officially underway.
