ZEN Of Collectible's Limit Breaker KAINAR: Vanguard KAINAR Figure Offers Affordable Metal Build Experience

Limit Breaker Vanguard KAINAR

"Limit Breaker KAINAR" is an original sci-fi mecha anime produced by Guangdong Alpha Animation and Culture Co., Ltd. It consists of 52 episodes across two seasons, first airing in July 2013 on iQIYI, Jiajia Cartoon, and CCTV. The story is set after 2300 AD, an era of human space colonization, revolving around conflicts between Earth, Moon, Mars, and a space pirate organization. Mars launches a surprise attack under the guise of medical aid, while the Moon retaliates with its secret mecha, "KAINAR."

Plot Summary

In 2300 AD, humanity began colonizing space to address growing population issues. Scientists constructed massive space cities within ring-shaped "Gravity Rings." Within just a century, half of the human population resided there.

By 2458 AD, a war erupted in lunar airspace between Earth and Martian Gravity Ring colonists over the seizure of Martian rare earth resources. After both sides suffered heavy casualties, Mars and Earth ceased all communication, ushering in a brief period of peace.

During the "Zero War Era," in addition to the Martian threat, space pirates composed of lunar criminals grew increasingly rampant.

The century-long peace ended in 2588 AD. When the lunar city-states were helpless against a new H1Z1 influenza outbreak, the long-isolated Mars extended an olive branch, dispatching medical ships for humanitarian aid to the Moon. However, this deceptive assistance proved to be the start of an invasion. The lunar city-state forces suffered repeated defeats, and Gravity Rings fell one after another. The lunar military, armed with the secret lunar weapon—KAINAR—repelled the aggressive attacks of the space pirates, successfully defending their territory. Despite significant sacrifices, they averted the crisis of their cities being breached.

In 2589 AD, the Martian forces disregarded the ceasefire agreement and returned, launching an assault on the United Nations alliance with Earth. The lunar military deployed KAINAR units to support Earth's forces. The battle escalated into a fierce stalemate, pushing the space pirates, lunar city-states, and Earth towards a brutal, mutually destructive conflict.

Pilot of Vanguard KAINAR: Ding Yi

Piloted by Ding Yi, the Vanguard KAINAR is the Moon Army's second-generation Overclocked ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter). It was redeveloped using data from the Pioneer KAINAR as part of the "Constant Core Project." It features a combat-ready overclocking system with two stages of overclocking performance. Equipped with two back-mounted Funnels that can detach and operate independently, transforming into both a Gravity Railgun and a Force Field Shield. It also comes with a long-range particle rifle.

Let's dive straight into the pros and cons!

On the downside, the overall level of detail is only average. Furthermore, the joints aren't perfectly tuned; some are a bit loose, leading to difficulty holding the long rifle steadily. A more significant issue is that some parts might detach during posing, though this can easily be remedied with a bit of glue.

The biggest advantages, of course, are its striking design and incredible value! Despite its rich array of accessories, it only costs around 600-700 Hong Kong Dollars. The sculpt is appealing, and articulation is decent. For this price, features like light-up eyes and metal joints are major selling points. These strengths truly overshadow any minor drawbacks.

For fans of domestic IPs and collectors who appreciate die-cast figures similar to Metal Build, this is definitely worth considering!
