DreamWorks' beloved "Shrek" franchise is finally making its grand return to theaters in summer 2027, promising to reignite its signature irreverent fairytale charm after a 16-year hiatus. The second trailer for the highly anticipated "Shrek 5" was released tonight, arriving over a year after the initial teaser debuted last February. This extended promotional window is due to a previous shift in the film's release schedule.
"Shrek 5" will be co-directed by Walt Dohrn, known for his work on the "Trolls" franchise, and Conrad Vernon, who previously co-helmed "Shrek 2." The film is slated for a North American release on June 30, 2027.

The core voice cast from the first four films is set to return, with Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Fiona. Joining the ensemble is Zendaya, who will voice Felicia, Shrek and Fiona's daughter. Skyler Gisondo and Marcello Hernández will also lend their voices to Shrek and Fiona's sons, Farkle and Fergus, respectively.
