With "Grand Theft Auto VI" (GTA VI) slated for a November 2026 release, players have been wondering about the future of the current "GTA Online" version. Previously, rumors circulated that "GTA Online" might receive its final major update in July, even sparking speculation about a potential third "GTA VI" trailer dropping concurrently. Now, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the next major heist mission for "GTA Online" will indeed arrive in July. 
According to information released by Rockstar, the new DLC is titled "The Kortz Center Heist." Players will infiltrate the Kortz Center exhibition hall to steal valuable artwork for their private collection. The developer stated that over the coming weeks, "GTA Online" will feature various preparatory activities, including additional GTA$ bonuses, record-breaking discounts, and opportunities to acquire rare and exclusive collectibles through the Fine Art Collector Program.
To participate in this heist, players will also need to add an Art Studio to their mansion property, which will serve as a place to house the acquired artwork. GTA+ members can purchase luxury properties via Prix Luxury Real Estate and receive a discount of up to GTA$2 million.
In related news, Rockstar also announced that starting June 18, digital Xbox One players and all PS4 players of "GTA V" can upgrade to the current-generation versions for free. Players' existing "GTA Online" progress can also be transferred, allowing last-gen players to return to Los Santos with a smoother experience before "GTA VI" officially launches.
Rockstar has not yet disclosed details about "GTA VI"'s online mode, nor has it confirmed whether "GTA Online" progress will carry over to the new title. However, with a major heist update in July and free current-gen upgrades, Rockstar appears poised to deliver a final surge of excitement for the 13-year-long Los Santos online saga before the new game arrives.
