More details have emerged regarding the long-anticipated revival of the classic sci-fi action IP, "RoboCop." Two years ago, a new series was announced, with "Aquaman" director James Wan attached as executive producer and veteran TV writer Peter Ocko ("The Leftovers," "Elementary") tapped to pen the script and serve as showrunner.

Today, World of Reel exclusively reported that Wan's involvement extends beyond executive producing; he will also personally direct several episodes of the first season. Production for the inaugural season is slated to begin next January in Vancouver, Canada, with filming expected to span approximately six months.
World of Reel also revealed that the series will introduce a new RoboCop model, Mark Kyle. Like the original Alex Murphy, Kyle is a fallen officer — a soldier, in his case, rather than a police officer — who is resurrected as a cyborg after being killed in action. Murphy will reportedly guide Kyle through his new life as a reanimated cyborg. Unlike Murphy, Kyle was a military man who died in battle, not at the hands of criminals.
