Chinese figure manufacturer Bear Panda, under official license from Khara, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" with a brand new release: the "Rei Ayanami Uniform TV ver." 1/6 scale pre-painted complete figure. Priced at 399 RMB, it's slated for an April 2027 release!
Rei Ayanami, pilot of EVA Unit-00, is the iconic heroine whose design by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer for EVA, was inspired by a character from his previous manga work, "Kotou no Oni" (Ghost Island). Created based on Hideaki Anno's script notes, she represents the unconscious part of Shinji's mind in Anno's vision and is also one of the objects of Shinji's Oedipus complex.
This "Rei Ayanami Uniform TV ver." 1/6 scale pre-painted figure stands approximately 28.5 cm tall, capturing her signature uniform from the TV anime series. The sculpt meticulously renders the delicate folds of her skirt and the subtle muscle curves of her arms and legs. The paint application uses fine airbrushing to achieve the realistic leather texture of her school bag and the soft, flawless appearance of her skin. Her slightly shy expression, complemented by a lily tucked into the side of her bag, imbues the entire piece with an elegant and beautiful aura.
