Bandai Spirits has announced the upcoming release of the "RE: Super Change Kobrander", a new revival product based on the 1997 Toei tokusatsu series "B-Fighter Kabuto", slated for October 2026.
First aired in 1997, the tokusatsu series "B-Fighter Kabuto" is the 16th installment in Toei's "Metal Hero Series". The story follows Dr. Torihiko Koenji, who, in his quest to explore the mysterious "Peace Star" he discovered, created a series of self-aware, autonomous robots called "BEETLE Robots". However, he vanished shortly after their completion. After three years of "sleep-learning," these robots began to activate. While some chose to forge friendships with humans, others learned the flaws of human society and became villains. They engage in a fierce battle to claim the 13 "Peace Stars," which are said to grant wishes.
The "RE: Super Change Kobrander" is a redesigned release based on the original "Super Change" series toy from 1997. While the original die-cast parts have been replaced with plastic, it faithfully retains the "Super Mode" transformation mechanism seen in the show. Significant improvements have been made to the articulation in the neck, elbows, waist, knees, and ankles, greatly expanding its poseability. The head transformation features an entirely new interlocking mechanism; instead of the original temperature-sensitive eye stickers, the black pupils now flip to white when the head extends for Super Mode.
The overall color scheme has also been significantly upgraded, replacing the original toy's gold with a show-accurate yellow paint application. Additional paint details have been added to areas like the mouth interior, teeth, and sneakers, faithfully recreating the character's look. Furthermore, all areas that previously relied on stickers in the original product have been upgraded to full paint applications.
