The iconic cult classic "The Room" boasts a massive global fanbase, a group that includes "Better Call Saul" star Bob Odenkirk. His dedication runs so deep that he once actively sought a role in "The Disaster Artist," the film chronicling the making of "The Room."
But "The Disaster Artist" was just an appetizer. Odenkirk's ultimate fan dream was to personally re-enact the entire "The Room" film. This wish came true for Odenkirk in 2023 when he starred in a remake titled "The Room Returns." He even brought along fellow industry fans like "Dark Shadows" actress Bella Heathcote and the director-writer couple Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel ("Doctor Sleep") to join in the fun.

Greg Sestero, who played Mark in the original film, also returned for the remake, though this time portraying the character Chris R (pictured above). The role of Mark was taken on by the film's director, Brando Crawford.
Shot entirely against a green screen without sets, "The Room Returns" was completed in just 12 hours, with actors performing without prior rehearsal (though teleprompters were used on set). The film makes no changes to the original plot, instead purely re-enacting the content with "truly mature, professional acting." Production wrapped in January 2023, with an initial plan for release that year to celebrate the original's 20th anniversary. However, the release was repeatedly delayed. Recently, the production team announced a premiere at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on June 26, followed by special screenings in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles.

This morning, "The Room Returns" debuted its first trailer via Crawford's personal YouTube channel (link above). While international distribution plans remain unconfirmed, fans can get a sneak peek with the trailer. The production team also released a statement emphasizing that all proceeds from "The Room Returns" will be donated to two charitable organizations: amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and Blue Collaborative, a non-profit production company supporting independent filmmakers.
