This year's highly anticipated animated sequel, "Toy Story 5," made its global debut last week, and as expected, the box office results were stellar. In North America, the film raked in a massive $160 million in its opening week, surpassing "Toy Story 4"'s previous record of $120 million to become the franchise's highest-grossing domestic opener to date.
This opening performance also marks the second-highest animated film debut in North American history, trailing only Pixar's "Incredibles 2," which premiered in 2018 with a record-setting $182 million.

Internationally, "Toy Story 5" earned approximately $152 million. Combined with its domestic take, the film's global opening weekend gross reached an impressive $312 million. This figure also eclipses "Toy Story 4"'s previous global opening record of $244 million, making it the highest-grossing worldwide opener in the franchise's history. While the production budget for this installment stands at a hefty $250 million (excluding marketing costs), given that "Toy Story 3" and "Toy Story 4" both surpassed the $1 billion mark globally, breaking even and turning a profit this time around should be easily achievable.
