The Wall Street Journal exclusively reported today that indie powerhouse A24 and Google have forged an artificial intelligence research partnership. The collaboration will see them work with Google's UK-based AI company DeepMind to develop new AI-related software for film professionals. This software's function is similar to the technology Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese promoted in partnership with Flux recently, primarily enabling creators to generate storyboards using AI. Google has reportedly invested $75 million in this joint venture.

Scott Belsky, a partner at A24 and head of its technology division, A24 Labs, explained to The Wall Street Journal that A24's development goals with Google differ from other market initiatives. He believes most AI developers mistakenly market their products as tools to "reduce film production costs" and "accelerate production timelines." However, his department is developing an AI-generated storyboarding application specifically designed to help creators maintain creative control while fostering an adventurous spirit.
