In a feature story this morning covering the future of Xbox, Entertainment Weekly (EW) revealed new plot details for the live-action "Gears of War" movie, which has been in development for four years. According to a synopsis obtained exclusively by EW, the film will tell the origin story of Delta Squad, a team of misfit soldiers fighting for survival against the Locust—a subterranean race of creatures bent on destroying humanity.
It was confirmed last year that the live-action "Gears of War" will be directed by action maestro David Leitch ("Deadpool 2," "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw"), with the screenplay penned by Jon Spaihts, co-writer of the "Dune" films.
Additionally, the EW report also mentioned that another Xbox title, "Sea of Thieves," is being adapted into a live-action film, with "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" director Destin Daniel Cretton attached to produce.
