Japanese toy brand MEDICOM TOY has unveiled a new addition to its popular MAFEX action figure line: the "Superman" action figure, based on the DC Comics storyline "Superman: For Tomorrow." Priced at 14,080 JPY, the figure is slated for an April 2027 release!
"Superman: For Tomorrow" is a classic DC Comics storyline published from 2004 to 2005, penned by Brian Azzarello and drawn by legendary Korean-American artist Jim Lee. The narrative unfolds in a flashback, detailing Superman's journey to uncover the mystery behind the inexplicable disappearance of millions worldwide. Grieving the loss of a loved one and grappling with self-blame, Superman confesses to a priest facing a crisis of faith while slowly unraveling the truth.
This Superman action figure stands approximately 16 cm (6.3 inches) tall, bringing Jim Lee's iconic rendition of the hero to life. The intricate sculpting faithfully captures his incredibly muscular physique. The overall design bears a strong resemblance to the previously released "Superman (Hush Version)," also based on Jim Lee's artwork, suggesting some shared tooling. The cape is crafted from real fabric and features a hidden wire along the edges, allowing for dynamic posing to achieve flowing, windswept effects. Accessories include four interchangeable face plates with solemn expressions, multiple sets of alternate hands, laser eye effects, a "vanishing device," and a gargoyle-themed display base. With its highly articulated body, collectors can recreate various scenes from the comic, and it can even be displayed alongside the recently announced Wonder Woman figure!
