Jesse Eisenberg, who has successfully transitioned to writing and directing in recent years, is lining up his next project. Following his directorial debut "When You Finish Saving the World" and the critically acclaimed "A Real Pain" starring Kieran Culkin, the first trailer for his third feature, "The Debut," has been released. Eisenberg writes, directs, and stars in the film, which is planned for a fall release, positioning it as a likely awards season contender for distributor A24.

The cast of "The Debut" features Paul Giamatti, Julianne Moore (reuniting with Eisenberg after "When You Finish Saving the World"), Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Liu, Bernadette Peters, and Jared Loftin.
The film centers on an introverted woman, played by Moore, who is unexpectedly cast in a community theater's musical production. However, she begins to lose herself as she gets too aggressively into character. Production on the film just began this month, with A24 also confirming today that it will handle distribution.
