TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectibles division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, is releasing a new S.H.MonsterArts action figure based on the film "Godzilla vs. Biollante." This latest entry, the "Biollante Wakasa Bay Decisive Battle Ver." action figure, is priced at 33,000 JPY and is slated for release in December 2026!
Released in 1989, "Godzilla vs. Biollante" (ゴジラvsビオランテ) continues the story from 1984's "Godzilla." In the film, the Japanese government researches Godzilla cells to create Anti-Nuclear Bacteria (ANB). Dr. Genichiro Shiragami, a participant in the project, injects his deceased daughter's cells into a rose to preserve her soul after she was killed in a terrorist attack. These cells later merge with Godzilla's cells, giving birth to the colossal plant monster, Biollante.
The "Biollante Wakasa Bay Decisive Battle Ver." features a new paint scheme inspired by Biollante's plant-beast form during its final confrontation with Godzilla in Wakasa Bay. The sculpt reuses the highly acclaimed 2013 and 2020 versions, personally overseen by Fuyuki Shinada, who crafted the original Biollante suit for the film. This meticulous sculpting captures the intricate plant textures and Biollante's beastly head and fangs. The new paint application pays homage to the film's original poster art, realistically conveying organic details with a level of visual impact even greater than seen on screen. Furthermore, gloss paint applied across the entire body recreates the wet, freshly emerged-from-water texture!
The figure retains the precise hinge articulation mechanisms throughout its body, while all four tentacles utilize ball joints, allowing for dynamic posing that faithfully recreates scenes from the movie. A standout feature is the orange-red core on Biollante's chest, which includes an LED light-up function. A switch on the bottom allows collectors to toggle between two distinct illumination modes: "Scorching Red" and "Bright Orange." For ultimate display, this figure can be paired with the previously released "-Movie Graphic Plus- Godzilla (1989)" to recreate their iconic battle scenes!
