Veteran entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider exclusively revealed on his blog, The InSneider, that Zendaya is reportedly in talks with Universal Pictures to take over from Matt Damon in a brand new reboot of the "Bourne" franchise. Sneider stated he corroborated this information with multiple industry sources, all providing consistent accounts.
This isn't the first time Zendaya has been linked to taking over a classic male-led action franchise. For months, she has also been rumored to be in discussions with Warner Bros. to succeed Harrison Ford in a new iteration of "The Fugitive."

Over the past two years, Universal has also been attempting to develop a Damon-led "Bourne 6" with "Conclave" director Edward Berger. Damon himself recently put out a public call for ideas for a sixth installment, but the project has yet to see further development.
Sneider also noted that Universal has privately denied the reports of Zendaya's involvement to him. However, he remains optimistic, predicting that given Zendaya's star power and the fact that her recent starring roles in films like "Challengers" and other dramatic features have averaged over $100 million at the global box office, a new "Bourne" film led by her could potentially reach a high of $463 million globally, similar to Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy," or at least $293 million, comparable to Angelina Jolie's "Salt."
Sneider acknowledged that this casting news is bound to spark considerable debate online, with many likely to object to a white male character being reinterpreted as a woman of color. However, he expressed openness to the decision and confidence in Zendaya's box office appeal.
