BANDAI SPIRITS' Tamashii Nations, home to the classic die-cast toy brand POPYNICA, is commemorating the 55th anniversary of "Kamen Rider." Following the announcement of the Cyclone (Kamen Rider 2), they have now revealed another themed new product: the "Cyclone (Kamen Rider 1)" die-cast model. Priced at 9,900 JPY, it is slated for release in January 2027.
The original Cyclone was developed by the Shocker organization before being stolen by Takeshi Hongo. It utilizes the wind pressure generated during riding to power the Typhoon belt on the Rider's waist, enabling his transformation. Equipped with a jet engine, the Cyclone boasts a top speed of 400 km/h, features an autopilot function, and is capable of vertical wall climbing, underwater travel, and high-altitude jumps! When "Kamen Rider" aired in 1973, the POPYNICA Cyclone toy released by the then-independent Popy company was actually based on the modified Cyclone ridden by Kamen Rider 2. Therefore, this marks the very first commercial release of the original Cyclone in POPYNICA's 55-year history!
The model stands approximately 9 cm tall. The Kamen Rider figure itself features the classic "Old Ichigo" design with articulation in the head. The red scarf around his neck is made of real fabric with an embedded wire, allowing for dynamic posing to recreate its flowing movement during high-speed rides! The Cyclone's main body, including the front forks, front and rear wheel spokes, chassis, and the iconic metallic blue-painted six-pipe exhaust system at the rear, are all crafted from die-cast metal. Classic emblems and motifs across the bike are perfectly recreated with intricate tampo printing, showcasing the Cyclone's powerful allure with premium specifications! Furthermore, it can be displayed alongside the concurrently released Cyclone (Kamen Rider 2) to recreate scenes of the two Riders launching into action—a definite must-have for both collectors!
