Japanese model kit manufacturers Good Smile Company and Max Factory have announced the latest addition to their co-developed "PLAMATEA" character model kit series: "Rei Ayanami" from "Evangelion New Theatrical Edition," slated for release in December 2026.
The First Child, Rei Ayanami, who pilots Evangelion Unit-00 in the series, joins the "PLAMATEA" line as an approximately 17 cm tall model kit. Utilizing multi-colored molded parts, pre-painted components, and water-slide decals for additional detailing, builders can achieve a highly accurate representation of her iconic Plugsuit appearance straight out of the box. The model not only faithfully reproduces her slender and elegant physique and the intricate details of her Plugsuit but also boasts a highly flexible joint design, allowing for a wide range of poses, including her signature "sports sit" pose.
Accessories include one pre-painted "expressionless face" part, along with three additional face parts – another "expressionless face," a "smiling face," and a "glaring face" – which require water-slide decals to complete, allowing for customizable eye directions. Multiple interchangeable hand parts are also provided to achieve more nuanced scene poses. These include a hand specifically designed to hold Gendo Ikari's glasses case, and weapon-holding hands compatible with weapons included with the "MODEROID EVA Unit-01" model kit.
