However, new reports suggest this arrangement might not be permanent, with a true disc-based physical edition of "GTA 6" still possible later on.
According to foreign media outlets, Graczdari, an insider who previously accurately revealed that "GTA 6's" initial physical release would not include a traditional disc, recently told Polish website PPE that a disc version would follow after "GTA 6" launches in November 2026. He further indicated that he expects the disc version could arrive as early as December, shortly after the game's official release. 
Graczdari believes the initial boxed download code versions might only be a temporary supply arrangement, and once this inventory is sold out, disc versions will take their place.
Given his role in physical game sales for the European region, and his past accurate disclosures regarding physical editions of "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered" and a Switch 2 version of "Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds," his current claims are garnering significant attention from players.
Additionally, some players have shared alleged responses from Rockstar Games customer service, which mentioned that a true physical version of "GTA 6" would be released "in the coming months" after its initial launch. However, this message did not explicitly mention a disc, and its authenticity cannot be verified. It could simply be a misunderstanding by customer service, a lack of information, or confusion caused by an AI response.
Industry observers speculate that if Rockstar Games indeed releases a boxed download code first, followed by a disc version, the primary reason might be to prevent pre-launch leaks. As major games have historically been leaked due to physical discs reaching retailers early, a download code version could mitigate the risk of pre-release cracking or spoilers.
If a disc version is released in December, it would not only circumvent initial leak issues but also capitalize on the holiday shopping season, appealing to collectors and gift-givers, generating another wave of sales for Rockstar Games.
