While TV shows being adapted into films is common, the reverse—films becoming TV series—is also a frequent occurrence, with examples like the "Lethal Weapon" and "Cruel Intentions" franchises making the leap from the big screen to the small. Typically, these adaptations emerge many years after their original cinematic releases, making it rare for a new version to go into production within just a year or two. However, the critically acclaimed 2024 film "Hit Man" is poised to become one of these rare exceptions.

Foreign media outlet Deadline recently reported that the highly praised black comedy crime romance "Hit Man," released two years ago, is already in development for a series adaptation. Original film star and co-writer Glen Powell, alongside director Richard Linklater, are both confirmed to return as executive producers. Stephen Falk, a writer known for his work on "Weeds," will serve as the lead writer for the upcoming series.
While details on how the series will adapt the story remain under wraps, it is expected to largely retain the film's core premise: an undercover operative collaborates with the police, posing as a hitman to ensnare suspects looking to hire a killer, and subsequently arresting them.
