BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS, known for its popular "S.H.Figuarts" action figure line, has announced the re-release of the beloved Nippon Professional Baseball mascot, Tsubakuro, scheduled for July 2026.
Tsubakuro, the mischievous mascot of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, is one of Nippon Professional Baseball's most popular figures. Known for his free-spirited and somewhat "dark-hearted" personality, he frequently entertains fans with his antics on the field, whether it's playfully teasing his sister Tsubami, other mascots, or cheerleaders, or engaging in comedic routines with the Chunichi Dragons' mascot Doala. The character faced a somber moment in February 2025 with the passing of his performer, a loss deeply felt by the Swallows and their fans. A new performer for Tsubakuro returned to the field in March 2026.
The "S.H.Figuarts Tsubakuro" stands approximately 14 cm tall and faithfully recreates his iconic features, from his rosy, round cheeks and penguin-like plump belly to his distinctive swallowtail-like "tails." The figure boasts multiple flexible joints throughout its body, allowing collectors to pose him in dynamic action shots like flying kicks, aerial poses, a certain famous wrestler's signature move, or even his energetic "Umbrella Dance" performed to the "Tokyo Ondo" song at games!
Accessories include a variety of interchangeable hand parts, a sitting Tsubakuro doll, an umbrella for his signature dance, a ladle often used as a microphone during interviews, his special "Tsubakuro Bazooka" weapon for playfully teasing other mascots, and a sketchbook for communication. Furthermore, an alternate head part allows for recreating his helmet-off look, letting you pose him holding the helmet in hand, ready to perform his famous helmet-tossing trick.
