Bandai Candy's popular model kit series, "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" (SMP), from Japanese toy company BANDAI, has announced the first product in its 25th-anniversary lineup for "Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger": the "Power Animal EXTRA Gao Wallaby," slated for release in February 2027!
To commemorate both the 10th anniversary of the SMP series and the 25th anniversary of Gaoranger, three new products have been revealed. These are the "phantom" Power Animals that previously only existed in concept art: the "Gao Wallaby," "Gao Peacock & Gao Cobra," and "Gao Turtle & Gao Walrus." These can combine with previously released Gao Kings (Spirit Kings) for new armed modes, or all three can combine to form the brand-new Gao King, "GaoGuardian"!
The "Power Animal EXTRA Gao Wallaby" set includes both a baby wallaby and a mother wallaby, both featuring articulated limbs. It can combine with the "SMP Gao Muscle" to form the new armed mode, "Gao Muscle Magnum." In this mode, the left arm can equip the Wallaby Gauntlet, the right arm the Wallaby Cannon, and both shoulders can mount Wallaby Cannons. Its special attack is the "Roaring Cannon Blast," unleashed by compressing Gao Muscle's energy through the Wallaby Cannons. When forming GaoGuardian, the mother wallaby transforms into the legs via interchangeable torso parts, while the baby wallaby becomes the head, faithfully recreating the majestic form of this phantom Gao King! GaoGuardian can execute the special move "Sacred Shield Slash" using the Gao Turtle on its left arm to clamp and slice enemies, and the "Sacred Bow Flash" by placing the Peacock Sword onto the bow formed by the deployed Gao Turtle!
A special simultaneous purchase bonus for all three products includes the special booklet "GaoGuardian Super Complete Works" and a "GaoGuardian Package-Style Sleeve," both featuring exclusive illustrations by toy designer Tsuyoshi Nonaka!
▼ Finally, a silhouette image for the next commemorative product was also revealed, hinting at three more previously unreleased "phantom" Power Animals: Gao Manta Ray, Gao Boar Fang, and Gao Bat.
