BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japanese toy company BANDAI, has announced the first wave of 25th-anniversary products for its popular model kit series, "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" (SMP), from "Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger"! The "Power Animal EXTRA GaoTurtle & GaoToppy" set is slated for release in January 2027.
To celebrate both the 10th anniversary of the SMP series and the 25th anniversary of Gaoranger, three new products have been unveiled. These feature phantom Power Animals that previously only existed in discarded concept art: "GaoKangaroo", "GaoPeacock & GaoCobra", and "GaoTurtle & GaoToppy". All three products can combine to form the brand-new Spirit King, "GaoGuardian", and can also be combined with previously released Spirit Kings!
The "Power Animal EXTRA GaoTurtle & GaoToppy" set includes two new Power Animals. These can combine with the "SMP GaoHunter" to form "GaoHunter Abyssal Mode", which features GaoTurtle as a booster, a left arm equipped with walrus tusks, and a new weapon formed from GaoToppy's lower body combined with the Alligator Blade. This form can unleash the finishing move "Fierce Fang Ocean Slash" with its left arm. In its GaoGuardian configuration, GaoTurtle and GaoToppy serve as the left and right arms, respectively, recreating the majestic appearance of the phantom Spirit King! GaoGuardian can utilize the GaoTurtle on its left arm to perform the clamping and cutting finishing move "Sacred Shield Blitz", as well as the "Sacred Bow Swift Strike", executed by placing the Peacock Sword on the bow formed by the deployed GaoTurtle!
A special bonus for purchasing all three products simultaneously is the special booklet "GaoGuardian Super Complete Works" & "GaoGuardian Package-style Sleeve", which includes an exclusive illustration by toy designer Tsuyoshi Nonaka!
▼Finally, a silhouette of the next commemorative product was also revealed. From its outline, it's clear that it features three more phantom Power Animals that were also discarded designs: GaoManta Ray, GaoBoar, and GaoBat.
