Jonah Hill, the comedic actor twice nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Moneyball," appears to be facing a challenging path in his recent directorial endeavors. His previous self-directed and starring film, "Outcome," garnered significant negative reviews. Now, his latest project, "Cut Off," which he also directed and stars in, is reportedly in serious trouble, potentially never even seeing a release.
According to a report from the entertainment news outlet Puck News, Warner Bros. Pictures recently pulled "Cut Off" from its release schedule due to extremely low confidence in the film. The studio's decision reportedly stemmed from internal test screenings that received overwhelmingly negative feedback, with audiences describing the film as "unwatchable." Furthermore, even Warner Bros. executives allegedly considered the film's quality "unreleasable."

However, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) later published a differing account. According to their sources within Warner Bros., the studio decided to postpone the original July 17 release date for "Cut Off" to allow more time for promotional efforts. They emphasized that a new release date would be announced soon. Hill's spokesperson also clarified that the film is still in post-production, and the delay is simply due to it not being finished yet.
"Cut Off" tells the story of fraternal twins who are abruptly cut off from their super-wealthy family's long-term financial support, forcing them to learn how to survive in the real world for the first time. Hill and Kristen Wiig star as the estranged siblings.
