BANDAI HOBBY, the model kit division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, has announced the latest addition to its highly diverse 1/144 scale "HG (High Grade)" Gunpla lineup: the "HG 1/144 Hydra Gundam". This new kit, stemming from the official side story "New Mobile Report Gundam Wing DUAL STORY G-UNIT," is slated for release in November 2026 and will be available exclusively through Premium Bandai.
The OZ-15AGX Hydra Gundam is a mobile suit piloted by Valder Farkill, leader of OZ Prize and known as the "Dark Destroyer General." Its name is derived from Hydra, the largest constellation among the 88 constellations. This machine was initially developed to counter the five Gundams of Operation Meteor. Beyond its superior performance, powerful armaments like the "Buster Cannon," and a transformation mechanism into a high-mobility MA form, it was also the first mobile suit in the series to be equipped with psycommu weapons. Utilizing psycommu sensors located throughout its body, it could lock onto enemy positions and control its "Wired Shoulder Claws" for long-range attacks purely through thought.
The "HG 1/144 Hydra Gundam" features an entirely new sculpt, faithfully recreating mechanical designer Junichi Akutsu's latest design. At 1/144 scale, it boasts cutting-edge color separation and part articulation techniques, along with high-density detail. The unique head design, which presents a Gundam face from the front, a Gelgoog-like face from the side, and a Zeong-like face from the rear, is precisely rendered. Furthermore, all joints are designed to modern HG standards, allowing for dynamic poses thanks to the interlocking knee mechanisms. The pair of large mechanical arms mounted on its back can also rotate in multiple directions via several articulation points.
Armament accessories include a newly designed "Buster Cannon" that can be mounted on the right shoulder, four "Beam Sabers" that can be simultaneously equipped on both hands and the mechanical arms, and an "EMF Shield" with a new deployment gimmick. The mobile suit also features a transformation mechanism into its high-mobility MA form, redesigned by Junichi Akutsu. The lower body incorporates a new transformation gimmick that consolidates the legs and waist, achieving a "Zeong"-like silhouette. The shoulder claws, when combined with mono-filament wires, can replicate their firing state as psycommu weapons.
