The low-budget horror blockbuster "Backrooms," which has already grossed over $330 million worldwide, has surprisingly announced that a new extended cut will hit North American theaters starting next Friday, July 3. This strategic move aims to capitalize on the massive holiday crowds during the upcoming July 4th Independence Day weekend in the US. Distributor A24 Films is pushing to further boost box office numbers during this period, with fans' turnout determining if the film's global haul can climb to $400 million.

This extended cut, titled "Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition," will feature 15 minutes of additional footage. This includes a brand-new "theatrical exclusive" hidden post-credits scene and new footage recorded by director Kane Parsons. US cinema chain AMC has already announced the extended cut on its official website, stating a total runtime of approximately 126 minutes.
It is currently unclear whether other international markets will follow suit with this release plan. Sometimes, these theatrical extended cuts are exclusive to North America, as was the case with "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood," which received a 9-minute extended cut re-release in its original run but was not shown internationally.
