BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS, through its S.H.MonsterArts brand known for exquisite monster sculpting and dynamic articulation, has unveiled a new addition to its "Movie Graphic Plus" series. Fans can look forward to the "Type-3 Kiryu Kai (Heavy Armament Type / High Mobility Type)" action figure, inspired by the film "Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S." This highly anticipated collectible is priced at 19,800 JPY and is slated for release in January 2027!
The "Type-3 Kiryu Kai" made its debut in the 2003 film "Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S." As the ultimate anti-G weapon, Kiryu was originally created from the bones of the Godzilla defeated in 1954. Following its intense battle with Godzilla in the previous film, where its devastating Absolute Zero Cannon was damaged, Kiryu underwent significant modifications. This upgraded version features a Triple Maser Cannon and is equipped with the Type 4 Anti-Monster Excavation Device on its right arm.
Standing approximately 15.5 cm tall, this Movie Graphic Plus Type-3 Kiryu Kai appears to utilize the prototype from the 2014 release. The figure boasts intricate sculpting that captures every mechanical detail, faithfully recreating its fully restored appearance after the previous fierce engagement. A new paint application, inspired by the film's night battle sequences, employs a deep, dark silver metallic finish to replicate the impactful visual effects seen on screen. The chest can open to reveal the Triple Maser Cannon, while key areas of the mecha incorporate die-cast metal parts, providing a substantial weight and enhancing its robust metallic texture!
Accessories included with the figure are a battle-damaged head sculpt with a scarred right eye, a backpack unit, an electromagnetic railgun, and an interchangeable right-hand Drill Claw. Collectors can freely swap and attach these weapon parts to switch between the "Heavy Armament Type" and "High Mobility Type" modes. This allows for dynamic displays, especially when paired with the simultaneously released Godzilla (2003) to recreate iconic battle scenes from the movie! As a special feature of the "-Movie Graphic Plus-" series, the figure also comes with a PET commemorative graphic card from "Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.", perfect for displaying alongside the mecha itself!
