TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has officially announced the latest release in its robot-themed posable action figure line, the ROBOT Damashii ver. A.N.I.M.E. series. The new "Z Gundam" from the anime "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam" is slated for release in December 2026.
The MSZ-006 Z Gundam is a next-generation transformable Mobile Suit developed by the AEUG after acquiring the Titans' cutting-edge RX-178 Gundam MK-II and utilizing its movable frame technology. It features highly rigid yet lightweight armor made of Gundarium γ alloy and boasts a rich arsenal including a Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers, and a Grenade Launcher with multiple warhead types. It also incorporates a simplified psycommu device, the "Bio-Sensor," which allows Newtype pilots to enhance the mobile suit's performance through their brainwaves. When fully activated, the Bio-Sensor can manifest incredible powers, such as strengthening beam weapons, generating defensive barriers, and even disabling enemy mobile suits.
The "ROBOT Damashii Z Gundam ver. A.N.I.M.E." stands approximately 13.5 cm tall and is meticulously crafted to reflect the mobile suit's design sheet aesthetics in both its Mobile Suit (MS) and Wave Rider (WR) forms. Its proportions are faithfully reproduced from official anime and illustration depictions, resulting in a sleek, sharp, and highly anime-accurate sculpt. To maximize both its aesthetic appeal and playability, this Z Gundam incorporates partial transformation mechanisms, such as head storage, alongside integrated block-style replacement parts. This allows for the recreation of a Wave Rider (WR) form that is both accurately sculpted and structurally robust.
This transformation method ensures that the Z Gundam retains rich and flexible articulation in its MS form. The joints between the shoulders and chest allow for significant forward and backward movement, while the elbows feature a dual-axis design. Multiple internal articulation points in the torso enable extensive pitching and yawing, and the knees boast a two-stage articulation for deep bends. Furthermore, a ball joint connects the backpack to the flight armor, allowing for multi-directional movement. Through part swapping, collectors can also recreate the Wave Rider form with the shield detached (as seen after its "Watermelon Ice" ramming attack on The O in the theatrical version), as well as the MS form with the flight armor removed.
Accessories include multiple interchangeable hand parts, landing gear for the WR form, a Beam Rifle, a Shield, Beam Sabers, replacement wrist Grenade Launcher parts, and a set of beam effects. The beam effects feature straight and curved effects for the Beam Sabers, as well as a firing effect for the Beam Rifle. The Beam Saber effect parts can also be attached to the Beam Rifle's muzzle to recreate its saber mode, or mounted on the waist sides to depict the Beam Gun firing scene in WR form.
