Four years after James Gunn became co-CEO of DC Studios, the company quickly announced its initial slate of film and television projects. Among these was "The Brave and the Bold," a new live-action "Batman" film set to reboot the DC Universe, focusing on the father-son dynamic between Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian Wayne. However, after three years in development, the project has seen little movement.

Currently, the creative team for "The Brave and the Bold" includes Andy Muschietti, who directed the 2023 film "The Flash," and Christina Hodson, who penned the screenplay for "The Flash." However, entertainment outlet World of Reel recently reported that Gunn is now considering directing "The Brave and the Bold" himself after completing his work on the upcoming "Superman" film, potentially replacing Muschietti.

Adding to the speculation, John Campea, host of the popular podcast "The Hot Mic," recently claimed to have received insider information indicating that Gunn has already selected the actor for the DCU's new "Batman," and the choice is reportedly quite surprising. Online rumors have since suggested that the new Batman could be Tom Brittney (pictured above), who previously auditioned for the role of "Superman," but this information remains unconfirmed.
