Japanese manga publishing giant Shueisha has officially announced the termination of its manga adaptation publishing agreement for Marvel characters with Walt Disney Japan. The partnership is set to conclude on September 30, 2026. This means that several officially licensed Marvel manga titles published by Shueisha will soon go out of print and be delisted from digital platforms.
According to an announcement on the official Shonen Jump+ X (formerly Twitter) account, the affected works include "Marvel x Shonen Jump+ Super Collaboration," "Marvel's Secret Reverse," "Spider-Man: Octo-Girl," "Spider-Man: Kizuna," and "Deadpool: Samurai." Physical print editions will be sold until the current inventory is depleted. Shueisha also cautioned that some orders may not be fulfilled if stock sells out faster than anticipated.

On the digital front, the titles will be available for purchase until 11:59 PM JST on September 30, 2026. Readers who have already purchased the digital versions will retain access to the works in their personal libraries on their respective platforms and will not lose their reading rights after distribution ends.
Shueisha officially stated that it deeply apologizes for the inconvenience caused to readers and asks for their understanding. However, as of now, the company has not provided a specific reason for ending the collaboration. The decision is particularly shocking for fans of the Marvel manga adaptations, as Shueisha is not only one of Japan's largest manga publishers but is also currently celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Meanwhile, Marvel still plans to continue creating manga-style content. Marvel Comics previously confirmed that the polarizing Marvel Mangaverse will return this September with five new one-shots, including "Web of Blood," "Iron Knight," "Arcane Avengers," "Ghostlocke," and "Web of Destiny."
