Bandai's popular "Movie Monster Series" of tokusatsu kaiju vinyl figures has announced its latest release: "Godzilla (1966)", based on the classic film "Ebirah, Horror of the Deep." This new collectible is slated for release in July 2026.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary, "Ebirah, Horror of the Deep" (also known as "Godzilla, Ebirah, Mothra: Big Duel in the South Seas") broke away from the typical Godzilla-lands-in-Japan narrative. The story begins with young Ryota, who steals a sailboat to search for his missing brother. After being caught in a storm, he drifts to a remote South Seas island, where he uncovers a sinister plot by the terrorist organization "Red Bamboo." This group uses the giant shrimp kaiju Ebirah to blockade the seas while secretly manufacturing nuclear weapons, even enslaving the natives of Infant Island, home to Mothra. To combat "Red Bamboo," rescue the inhabitants, and escape the island, Ryota and his companions decide to awaken the slumbering Godzilla...
The "Movie Monster Series Godzilla (1966)" stands approximately 15 cm tall. Crafted from soft vinyl, it faithfully captures the suit's distinctive skin textures and rough, coral-like dorsal fins as seen in the film. The figure also features striking red paint applications for its pupils, along with a grey-white gradient paint scheme on its dorsal fins and claws.
