The official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, has announced its latest exclusive product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM": the "HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.) [Clear Color]". This new kit is slated for release starting July 18, 2026, at GUNDAM BASE stores worldwide.
While the Z'Gok appearing in the film bears a striking resemblance to its original "Mobile Suit Gundam" counterpart, it is, in fact, the "ZGMF-X191M2 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II" in disguise. This mobile suit is an upgraded version of Athrun Zala's previous machine, the Infinite Justice Gundam, incorporating Morgenroete's latest technology. It features an all-around monitor cockpit, Variable Phase Shift (VPS) armor, and significantly revamped exterior armor details. A large beam horn has been added to its head for surprise attacks, and its backpack has been replaced with the new "M2X32E VOLANTES" propulsion unit. However, because the unit utilizes a nuclear fission engine, which violates the Junius Treaty, it must operate discreetly, disguised as a Z'Gok.
The "HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.) [Clear Color]" is a modified version of the previously released standard kit. Its original light red and dark red exterior armor parts have been replaced with highly translucent clear plastic, while the dark gray joint and backpack parts are now molded in a metallic color with a granular texture. This unique design allows the underlying frame of the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II to be visible through the clear armor. It also offers greater convenience for customizers looking to incorporate lighting or glow-in-the-dark paint, creating a distinct style compared to regular Gunpla.
The mobile suit incorporates the "SEED Action System," allowing it to recreate iconic poses from the Gundam SEED series. Its powerful in-show combat stances are achievable thanks to the accordion-like structure of its arms and legs, along with a highly articulated abdominal joint. Accessories include the new "M2X32E VOLANTES" propulsion backpack, replacement parts for the activated "Grapple Stingers" on both arms, a battle-damaged head part, and beam effect parts for the wings. When combined with the separately sold upper body parts from the "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II" or "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II [Clear Color]," this kit's upper body can directly replace the non-articulated internal frame of those models.
