This year, "The Backrooms," adapted from the internet urban legend of the same name, has been a box office sensation. Produced for roughly $10 million, the film has already grossed over $330 million worldwide. This astounding success has naturally spurred other Hollywood studios to scour the internet for similar viral concepts to adapt. Today, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) exclusively revealed that Warner Bros. Pictures is already developing a film to capitalize on this trend.

According to THR, Warner Bros. secured the film rights to another popular urban legend, "Siren Head," after a fierce bidding war. They have tapped Brian Duffield, director of "No One Will Save You," to helm the project. Zach Cregger, who gained significant acclaim last year for his film "Weapons," will co-write the screenplay with Duffield and also serve as a producer.

The Siren Head meme originated from an image created in 2018 by Canadian artist Trevor Henderson. It is commonly depicted as a towering, slender creature, approximately 40 feet (12 meters) tall, with two blaring sirens for a head. It often lurks in forests, luring humans with its sounds and even mimicking victims' distress calls. Following its viral popularity, Siren Head's lore expanded, leading to video game adaptations, and now, its leap to the big screen.
