Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were the undisputed king and queen of 90s romantic comedies, a box office guarantee as an on-screen couple. Their most successful collaboration was arguably 1998's "You've Got Mail," which grossed over $250 million worldwide, an undeniable blockbuster at the time. Now, nearly 28 years after its original release, Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly looking to recapture that same cinematic magic.

Esteemed film and TV reporter Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon page this morning that Warner Bros. is quietly developing a "You've Got Mail" reboot. The studio is reportedly eyeing rising pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter for the lead female role.
A former child star, Carpenter has accumulated significant acting experience in film and television prior to focusing on her music career. Her credits include starring in the Disney Channel series "Girl Meets World" and the Netflix "Tall Girl" film franchise. Her return to acting would therefore be a natural fit; the key now is whether Warner Bros. and Carpenter can successfully reach an agreement.
