The LEGO Ideas series is set to release a brand new set, "21370 E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial," based on Steven Spielberg's classic 1982 sci-fi film, "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial." This set is scheduled for official release on August 1, 2026, priced at $129.99 USD, and includes 1,226 bricks, recommended for ages 18 and up.

"E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" is a 1982 American sci-fi film directed by Spielberg, telling the heartwarming story of the genuine, cross-species friendship between E.T., an alien stranded on Earth, and a young boy named Elliott, who ultimately helps E.T. find his way home with the assistance of other children. Upon its release, the film achieved a staggering box office of nearly $400 million, becoming the highest-grossing film in history—a record it held for 11 years until it was surpassed in 1993 by another Spielberg-directed masterpiece, "Jurassic Park." To this day, it remains one of the most cherished childhood memories for countless fans of 80s cinema. With the film's 45th anniversary approaching in 2027, the timing for this LEGO set couldn't be more perfect.

This set was designed by LEGO Ideas fan Richard Lemeiter (online handle Lafabrick). His original submission featured a 30cm tall full-body E.T. figure constructed from nearly 3,000 bricks. The official final version has been scaled down to 1,226 pieces, resulting in a more compact size (approximately 24cm H × 21cm W × 15cm D), similar in scale to the "21361 Gremlins: Gizmo" set released in 2025.

As seen from the packaging art, the official set doesn't recreate a single scene but rather connects multiple iconic movie moments. It includes the E.T. figure itself, Elliott, and the film's most representative classic scene: the bicycle flying across the moonlit sky. Additionally, E.T.'s signature pose, holding a potted plant with his finger glowing brightly, is fully captured. E.T.'s head can rotate 360 degrees and tilt up and down, his mouth can open and close, and his arms, wrists, and fingers are all posable. The box clearly states "batteries included," confirming the set features a built-in light-up function.
