From Japanese company PLEX and distributed by X-PLUS, the popular "DEFOREAL" series of soft vinyl figures, known for blending intricate, realistic details with adorable deformed proportions, has announced its latest release from the "Godzilla vs. Evangelion" collaboration project: the "EVANGELION Unit-02 Beast "G" Mode Metallic Color Ver.", slated for release in September 2026.
The dream collaboration project, "Godzilla vs. Evangelion," officially launched in 2016, spurred by Hideaki Anno's directorial work on "Shin Godzilla." This cross-over has spawned numerous popular products featuring both Godzilla and Evangelion characters. Notably, the pachinko machine "P Godzilla vs. Evangelion ~G-Cell Awakening~" even presented an entirely new story that merged the two universes, depicting a mutated form of Unit-01 after being hit by Godzilla's Atomic Breath and subsequently infected by G-Cells. This unique concept was later brought to life as a highly sought-after figure by PLEX, generating significant buzz among collectors.
The "EVANGELION Unit-02 Beast "G" Mode Metallic Color Ver." is a revised edition based on the previously released standard version. This new iteration replaces the original red and orange sections with metallic paint, imparting a glossy, heavy, and more substantial feel. Standing approximately 18cm tall, the figure intricately sculpts Unit-02's damaged restraint armor, the multiple deployed limiters on its back, and the Godzilla-infused rough skin, coral-like dorsal fins, and tail.
Even with its charming, super-deformed proportions, the Beast "G" Mode maintains highly realistic, biological details throughout. The roaring head, with its murky, fierce white eyes and multiple rows of sharp teeth, is particularly striking, offering a distinct aesthetic appeal compared to the larger Toho 30cm Series figures.
