(株式会社プレックス), in collaboration with renowned sofubi artists, has unveiled a new Godzilla-themed entry in their "GODZILLA VINYL ART" (GVA) series: the "Kiryu (Senki) Frog Tree" soft vinyl figure. Priced at 38,000 JPY, pre-orders are set to open on the official Premium Bandai Japan website on July 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM JST, with an estimated release in July 2026.
The Japanese three-person design team "Frog Tree" (フロッグツリー) is an internationally acclaimed sofubi artist group known for their "Wa" (Japanese style) themed creations. Their works transcend mere toys, blending artistic expression with traditional Japanese aesthetics, garnering significant attention from art toy enthusiasts worldwide.
For this release, Frog Tree has taken the ultimate anti-Godzilla weapon, Kiryu (Type-3 Mechagodzilla), as their subject, seemingly drawing inspiration from its appearance in "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla." Standing approximately 27 cm tall, the figure masterfully integrates traditional Japanese elements like samurai and armor into Kiryu's formidable mechanical design. Unique details include smoke-like adornments behind the ears and newly added intricate patterns and tassels on the chest armor, reminiscent of classic Japanese samurai plating. The entire piece is finished with a high-quality metallic silver paint application, with deepened shading and panel lines that perfectly fuse Kiryu's iconic silhouette with the fierce spirit of a "War Demon," presenting a powerful interpretation distinct from its original cinematic portrayal.
