BANDAI SPIRITS' BANDAI HOBBY division in Japan is gearing up to release the latest addition to its lineup from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY": the "HG 1/144 Gouf Ignited (Heine Westenfluss Custom)". Set to launch on July 11, 2026, the company has just unveiled new details, including the official product box art and physical model samples, ahead of its release.
The ZGMF-2000 Gouf Ignited was originally developed concurrently with the ZAKU Warrior as part of ZAFT's "New Millennium Series" mass-production mobile suits. Although its higher production cost and maintenance difficulties meant it lost out to the ZAKU Warrior as the primary mass-produced unit, its superior performance caught the attention of military high command. An initial small batch of prototype units was thus delivered to ace pilots, including members of the FAITH special forces. In the series, Heine Westenfluss, a character famously voiced by musician Takanori Nishikawa, piloted one such unit (ZGMF-X2000), with its distinctive orange color scheme chosen to reflect Nishikawa's personal preference.
The "HG 1/144 Gouf Ignited (Heine Westenfluss Custom)" has been meticulously re-engineered with modern HG standards, utilizing the latest color separation and part division techniques. This new kit represents a significant evolution in sculpting and part design compared to the older HG version released in 2005. It boasts a sleek, refined, and anime-accurate appearance, with minimal visible seam lines once assembled and a faithful reproduction of its on-screen colors. The joints incorporate the "SEED Action System," widely used in the "Gundam SEED FREEDOM" movie series kits, delivering an exceptional range of motion through features like sliding shoulder armor connections.
For weaponry, the kit includes a back-mounted flight unit with deployable thruster wings and balance tail fins. Its right arm is equipped with the "M181SE "Odin" Beam Operating System Gatling Gun." The "MMI-55 "Tempest" Beam Sword" faithfully recreates its transformation from a solid blade to a beam sword, complete with beam effect parts, and comes with a specialized angled hand for dynamic posing. The "Anti-Beam Shield" features a storage mechanism for the "Tempest" Beam Sword, while the "MA-M757 "Slayer Whip" includes two effect parts to depict both straight and curved forms. Furthermore, the backpack utilizes a single-axis 3mm connection, allowing for interchangeability with other compatible backpacks.
