T-SPARK, the high-end toy brand under Japan's TAKARA TOMY, has just announced the latest entry in its external collaboration series, SYNERGENEX. This time, the iconic "Zoids" franchise collides with the world of "Mobile Police Patlabor" to create the new "Fangryphon", scheduled for release in February 2027.

The original mecha inspiring this crossover, the "TYPE-J9 Griffon" from "Mobile Police Patlabor," was a top-secret experimental combat Labor developed by the SEJ Tsuchiura Research Institute with the goal of creating the "ultimate Labor." Built with a virtually unlimited budget showcasing the pinnacle of technology, its power and maneuverability far surpassed other units like the Ingram. It featured interchangeable back units for short-term flight or underwater submersion and was equipped with the highly efficient and unique "ASURA" operating system, allowing it to move with life-like agility.
This new crossover machine, the "Fangryphon," comes with its own original backstory. The lore states that it is the restored form of a Zoid Core that fell from Planet Zi to Earth. Unlike the two "Hunter Wolf" units that were recovered by the Japanese government and raised alongside Special Vehicles Section 2, this jet-black Zoid was modified and brought under control by an unknown party. On Halloween night, it attacked a patrol boat docked at the Yokohama Bay Bridge, leading to a confrontation with SV2's Hunter Wolf team... The full story will be detailed in the collaboration webcomic, "ZOIDS×PATLABOR Code Name B.U.D.D.Y."

The "SYNERGENEX Fangryphon" is based on the previously released "Zoids Wild" series kit, the "ZW19 Fang Tiger." Its appearance has been completely revamped to match the Griffon's characteristic glossy black armor, utilizing numerous new parts to create the Griffon-style head and massive back-mounted wings. The kit continues the series' signature play pattern, allowing builders to assemble it from a skeletal form up to its complete state, offering two distinct modes: "Jet-Black Fang Tiger" and "Fangryphon."

In either form, activating the motorized unit housed within the articulated frame allows the machine to walk automatically with realistic, beast-like movements. The signature "Wild Blast" gimmick can be activated, deploying the back-mounted "Twin Fangs" weaponry. The Fangryphon's wings can also be manually posed up, down, forward, and back.
