Disney's beloved animated classic "Tangled" is getting a live-action adaptation, but recently leaked set photos have unexpectedly ignited fan debate over a key visual detail. According to reports, the flag of the Corona Kingdom in the film appears to have shifted its iconic purple and gold color scheme—a hallmark of the 2010 animated version—to blue and yellow. This alteration has led some moviegoers to question whether the live-action remake will significantly deviate from the original.
The change has already sparked strong reactions online, with some critics sharing their thoughts on X (formerly Twitter):
While such reactions, like one fan's sentiment that the "whole movie [should be] canceled" because "'Tangled' is purple," might seem exaggerated, they reflect the delicate position Disney faces with its recent live-action remakes. If adaptations adhere too closely to the original, they often face criticism for lacking innovation; however, altering classic elements risks being seen as disrespectful to cherished animated memories.

"Tangled" is based on the "Rapunzel" fairy tale, telling the story of Rapunzel, who possesses magical golden hair and has been confined in a tower for years. Her life changes when the wanted thief Eugene Fitzherbert (Flynn Rider) breaks in, leading them to strike a deal and embark on an adventure to find freedom. Given that the original animated film's vibrant colors, beloved characters, and memorable songs are deeply ingrained in fans' minds, any minor detail change is subject to intense scrutiny. It remains unclear how faithfully the live-action "Tangled" will adhere to its animated predecessor.
The film will be directed by Michael Gracey, known for "The Greatest Showman," with the screenplay penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote "Thor: Love and Thunder." Teagan Croft is set to star as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Eugene Fitzherbert, and Kathryn Hahn will portray Mother Gothel.
The live-action "Tangled" currently has no official release date but is anticipated to hit the big screen in 2027 or 2028.
