Produced by PLEX and distributed by X-PLUS, the Toho 30cm Series of soft vinyl figures, celebrated for its lineup of Toho's iconic kaiju, has just announced its latest release from the film "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah". Get ready for the "Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (1991) Hokkaido Ver.", scheduled to storm collections in September 2026.
In the film's plot, humans from the 23rd century, aiming to weaken the economically dominant Japan of the era, send a special unit back to 1992. They deceive the Japanese government with a story that Godzilla will destroy Japan in 2204, convincing them to cooperate in a mission to 1954 to prevent Godzilla's birth. In his place, they secretly release three genetically engineered creatures called "Dorats." The plan is for the Dorats to absorb the radiation instead of the native Godzillasaurus, transforming them into the controllable bio-weapon, King Ghidorah, to attack Japan during its bubble economy. However, they failed to alter the Godzillasaurus's destiny. After absorbing immense energy from a nuclear submarine, it mutates into a larger, more powerful Godzilla than ever before, ultimately defeating King Ghidorah with overwhelming force in Abashiri, Hokkaido.
The "Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (1991) Hokkaido Ver." is based on a master prototype sculpted by the legendary Yuji Sakai. The original sculpt is converted into a wax cast and then used to create the metal molds for soft vinyl production, a process that allows the final product to faithfully capture the rich, intricate details of the original prototype (some molds are shared with the 2015 "Toho 30cm Series Godzilla (1991) Hokkaido Ver." release). The figure exquisitely captures the powerful pectoral muscles, taut waistline, and signature downward-sloping dorsal fins of the "GidoGoji" suit. Furthermore, the figure's entire color scheme has been thoroughly supervised by Yuji Sakai himself, with the paint application expertly enhancing the three-dimensional presence of the detailed sculpt.
Additionally, a Limited Edition version will be released simultaneously, available exclusively through "Shonen RIC" and the "GODZILLA STORE". This version is differentiated by its built-in LED light-up feature; by connecting it to a USB power source, the dorsal fins can be illuminated with a brilliant blue glow.
