Danish toy brand LEGO has officially revealed its latest Icons series product, the "11382 Hubble Space Telescope." This set is slated for release on August 1, 2026, with a suggested retail price of $129.99 USD. Comprising 1,252 bricks, it's designed for builders aged 18 and up.
The Hubble Space Telescope is a collaborative project between NASA and the European Space Agency. Launched aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in April 1990, it has since operated for over 35 years in an orbit approximately 540 kilometers above Earth. Hubble's astronomical images have fundamentally reshaped humanity's understanding of the cosmos, capturing iconic sights like the "Pillars of Creation," confirming the universe's age at roughly 13.8 billion years, and providing direct evidence for the existence of supermassive black holes. It stands as one of the most significant scientific instruments in the history of human space exploration.
This new LEGO rendition marks the largest-scale Hubble Space Telescope brick set ever released. Previously, a smaller Hubble model (382 pieces) was included as an accessory in the 2021 "10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery" set. Now, as a standalone 1,252-piece kit, it boasts significantly enhanced detail and scale.
The set recreates the telescope's body primarily with dark gray and metallic silver elements. Its solar panels are adjustable, and the antenna can also be repositioned. External panels are removable, revealing intricate internal details of the instrument bay, including gyroscopes, the primary mirror, and the secondary mirror. The aperture door is also functional and can be opened. Once assembled, the model rests on a black Icons series display stand, complete with a printed information plaque highlighting Hubble's significant scientific achievements. The set also includes an astronaut minifigure for scale.
