From Japan's Plex and distributed by X-Plus, the Daiei 30cm Series of vinyl figures, focusing on the iconic monsters of Daiei's tokusatsu films, has announced its latest release! Get ready for the Gamera (1966), as seen in the classic kaiju film "Gamera vs. Barugon," scheduled to launch in September 2026.

Released in 1966, "Gamera vs. Barugon" is the second film in the Showa Gamera series. After being launched into space in a rocket at the end of the previous film, Gamera escapes his cosmic prison by colliding with a meteor and returning to Earth. Meanwhile, an egg belonging to the legendary freezing monster Barugon—said to be born only once a millennium—is exposed to medical infrared radiation. It hatches and, in a matter of hours, completes a growth cycle that should have taken a decade, proceeding to rampage through Osaka. The light emanating from Barugon's body attracts Gamera, setting the stage for an epic showdown between the two great monsters at Lake Biwa.

The Daiei 30cm Series Gamera (1966) stands at an impressive height of approximately 29 cm (about 11.4 inches). The figure faithfully captures the signature features of the Showa-era Gamera, including his large eyes and massive tusks, his flattened torso, and the impeccably neat grid pattern on his abdomen. The neck, limbs, and tail are all sculpted with lifelike wrinkles, while the various parts of his carapace feature a rough, irregular rock-like texture, complete with the sharp, hooked scutes that line his back.
