Bandai Japan has announced a new line of interactive talking dolls from the beloved "Chiikawa" series. The lineup includes three distinct sets: the "Talking Chiikawa Pajama Set," "Talking Hachiware Pajama Set," and "Talking Usagi Pajama Set." All three are scheduled for an official release on August 8, 2026, priced at 7,700 JPY each (tax included).
"Chiikawa" is a massively popular character series created by Japanese illustrator nagano. It began as a series of illustrations posted on social media, telling the heartwarming stories of the tiny Chiikawa and friends as they navigate the challenges of daily life. Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi are the three main protagonists, each with a distinct personality, and they consistently top the charts as best-sellers in the Japanese merchandise market.
Each of the three dolls boasts unique voice and interactive features and comes dressed in an included, removable pajama outfit:
Chiikawa (Oshaberi Chiikawa)
Features over 30 voice lines, including sounds from the series' iconic weeding and subjugation scenes. When you "feed" it, it makes chewing sounds; pat its head, and it will sing. Lay it down, and it will make sleeping noises, and shaking it up and down will trigger a "no" reaction. It can also interact with the separately sold "Hachiware" doll to recreate the grass-pulling certification test scene. Includes two food accessories.
Hachiware (Oshaberi Hachiware)
Packed with over 100 voice lines and seven interactive modes. This includes a conversation mode that recognizes 14 different words, allowing you to chat with Hachiware as if you're a character in the "Chiikawa" world. You can also practice for the grass-pulling certification test. It can interact with the separately sold "Chiikawa" doll to recreate the test scene.
Usagi (Oshaberi Usagi)
Comes with over 60 voice clips. It features a "Loud Talking Mode" to recreate its memorable lines from the show, a "Response Mode" where Usagi will randomly echo what you say, and a "Feeding Mode" that triggers chewing sound effects, among other fun interactions. Includes two food accessories.
