Screenwriter Brad Ingelsby, known for "Out of the Furnace," has successfully transitioned from film to television in recent years, creating two critically acclaimed crime series for HBO: "Mare of Easttown" and "Task." Given that both shows are set in working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, many fans speculated they existed within the same universe. "Task" star Mark Ruffalo even confirmed this himself, hinting at a potential crossover between the two series.

Today, that crossover plan has been confirmed. Variety exclusively reported that Julianne Nicholson will reprise her "Mare of Easttown" role as Lori (pictured above) in the second season of "Task."

Prior to Nicholson's casting, other confirmed additions to the second season include Edgar Ramirez, Mahershala Ali, and Harry Melling. The story is expected to follow Ruffalo's character, Tom Brandis, as he takes charge of a new special operations unit. However, as the investigation deepens, it becomes increasingly difficult to determine the true target. How Nicholson's character will interact with the Season 2 storyline remains unknown.
